Injury update:
Over the past 8 days, I have put up 4 runs and feel like I’m finally progressing in recovery from this peroneal tendon strain:
Run 1: Enthusiasm got me – 10.20m
It was slow, so that was good and I incorporated some 0.25-mile stretches of walking but the total running portion was 9 miles. I might have teared up a few times and I def stopped to snap a few shots, also!
Run 2: Was that real? – 4.65m
It was a little harder than I thought it would be. I had to really dial it back. But my leg didn’t feel worse after.
Run 3: Split run – 4m w/friend, 3m solo
I’ve been running with other people to keep my pace in check. I ran with my friend for 4 miles around Griffith and then, because towards the end I started to feel *almost* good, I thought it would be good to see how I could do on my own. Well!
Run 4: New Basin Blues – 8.5m
I felt flashes of my normal running self a few times, climbing the 1000ft hill without a break, charging downhill, a few 7-something miles. It felt good. I was VERY cautious with my stride though and kind of tried to keep it mid-foot strike more than I normally would. Felt fine afterward, took a yoga class finally and tried to play softball but sprinting 0-full speed proved too much, which I suspected it would be.
Coming back is great! More training this week, all the happiness!
